This session will equip K–3 teachers with a practical understanding of Utah’s new early literacy legislation (SB 246) and its impact on daily classroom instruction. Participants will:
-Gain an overview of updated literacy requirements for K–3 educators -Understand the role of benchmark assessments in identifying students for support -Learn expectations for Individual Reading Plans (IRPs), and the district vision for support -Understand the Davis School District’s approach to implementation, including tools, supports, and timelines
By the end of the session, teachers will leave with clarity, confidence, and actionable next steps to support every student in becoming a proficient reader.
