In science, deep student understanding depends on more than engaging lessons. It requires intentional teacher decision making. This session will help K through 6 educators shift their focus from student learning goals alone to teacher learning goals that strengthen the facilitation of scientific discussions and formative assessment practices. Participants will explore how identifying specific instructional moves can lead to richer student thinking, more responsive teaching, and stronger science sensemaking.
